As Founder of Krip-Hop Nation, I & we should all know that Deaf artists have a long history in the arts and Hip-Hop not only rapping but breakdancing . Deaf Hip-Hop & Spoken Word are huge internationally from D.C. to the UK. I’m so proud to know and share the stage with dancer and poet, Antoine Hunter of Deaf Dance Company, Urban Jazz Dance Company who coordinate the fourth annual Bay Area Deaf Dance FestivalThe Bay Area Deaf Dance Festival.
On August of 2016 I took Tiny to go see The Bay Area Deaf Dance FestivalThe Bay Area Deaf Dance Festival but not only dance but comedy and more.
A friend of mine and superstar, Antoine Hunter ,worked his butt off with other to put on 4th annual Bay Area International Deaf Dance Festival with his Oakland base Deaf Dance Company, Urban Jazz Dance Company.
As Tiny and I sat back the venue became like the UN of Deaf dancers from London, Turkey, Russia, D.C., the Bay Are and more. The sounds of feett slapping, tiptoeing on the floor sent vibration throught the whole venue then laughter busted out with CJ Jones, the father of Deaf comedy.
Dance Mission Theater in the Mission district of San Francisco was taken over by beautiful sign lanuage and the artistic Deaf claps by waving hands in the air. I even bumped into Fred Beam, one of the creators of The Wild Zappers, one of the oldest all Black Deaf dance company in D.C.. There is nothing hotter then watching a Deaf poet do their thing, Joy Ellen is one of powerful poets in the Bay Area. When Joy speaks and sign her poetry its beyond mind blowing gorgeous. I was done when a choir in all white took the stage playing with my ears.
The whole night was Droolilicious from dance to music to comedy and I can’t wait for 2017 event!
